Rotoscoping Project

This is my rotoscoping project done with the Muybridge footage. I think this was a very helpful project because it gives me more possibilities as to what I can do with flash in the future.

Updated Character Design

I resized everything and traced it on a light table because I usually like to draw large and I don't have an 18x24 scanner. This is Gloomy Girl, my character for my final animation.

My weekend and character for final project

This weekend I bought a light table to help make my character designs look a little more organized. I finished making my final project character into vectors in photoshop and now she is ready for the second jump ( at least from the side view). I'm going to post the first sketches of my character in this post since I haven't done that yet but I will be posting an updated version very soon.

How the work is going

Right now I'm working on my character that I'm going to be using for my final film and that I will be using for my second jump. I am using the pen too to draw over my character designs in photoshop.

Jumping Clown

This is the jumping exercise done with the clown puppet

What I worked on over the weekend

I created a character for my final animation over the weekend. I drew her from a side view first and then I drew her from the front. After drawing the two views I drew a few facial expressions for her. I came up with a story to put her in while working on her character design. So I started on my storyboards also. Next I am going to prepare my character to be put in flash.

Bouncing Ball

This is the first bouncing ball I completed just using the ease slider

This is the Bouncing ball I did using the editor. I found this method to be much harder than just using the ease slider.

The Premise For My Animation

A gloomy looking girl is walking in the woods and decides to sit down on a tree stump in front of an apple tree. While sitting at the tree stump the girl notices an apple on the ground in front of her. After closer inspection she sees that the apple is rotten, she looks at it in disgust. As she looks a the rotten apple a beautiful and almost perfect looking apple falls from the tree where the rotten apple had most likely fallen from. The girl stands up from the stump and picks up this perfect looking apple. The apple is shiny and looks perfect for eating. The girls holds the apple up to her face and is about to take a bite when the apple opens its eyes and mouth and smiles at the girl. The girl quickly drops the smiling apple and steps on it, leaving it next to the rotting apple she first saw when she sat down.

Illustrators I like

John Cebollero is one of my favorite illustrators I like the way he distorts his figures and the emotion that is so well displayed by the characters he creates. http://www.johncebollero.com I think that he shows alot of skill in the work that he dose by using digital and traditional media .

Inspirational Animation: The PowerPuff Girls

I chose the Power Puff girls because because I like the art style and how it utilizes flash. I really like how the back grounds are done in a way that uses simplified detail and distorted shapes. I also like the use of limited animation.

Introduction

My Name is Brandon Milteer and I'm a senior animation major at SCAD. I'm from Louisville Kentucky, which is home to the Kentucky Derby. I am currently completing my senior project that is being done using stop motion animation. I decided to take Digital Cel I because I thought it would be important to learn how to use flash because it seems to be a widely used software in the animation industry. Even though the school is trying to transition over to Digital Pro I would still like to learn Flash as well. I also enjoyed creating cut out animation in Motion Studies class freshmen year and I think that this would really be a great opertunity to go a few steps ahead of that.
